Mettre au prétérit simple ou au prétérit -ing

Holmes was sleeping so  went to wake him up.A client arrived early in the morning. She was a woman. She was wearing a black dress and she was looking very tired. She was shivering. She said she was afraid and that she needed our help.While I was listening to her, Sherlock Holmes noticed she had fresh mud on her clothes. He instantly deduced she took the train. While he was talking, I began to think this case was going to be interesting.


j'ai failli mettre "she was taking" mais ça n'a aucun sens... Elle ne pouvait pas "être en train de prende le train" Elle a pris le train... Je pense....
