Tout d'abord on classe les adjectifs longs d'un coté et courts de l'autre  pour une raisons simples :

En anglais , le superlatif des mots courts se forme en :the + adj+est
Pour le formation des superlatifs des mots longs : the + most + adj

Attention aux cas particuliers : good ==> best
                                                 bad   ==> worst    ....
                                          
Pour ton exercice, old , high et long sont court leurs superlatifs sont donc formés en adj + est :  old ==> the oldest
                                   high ==> the highest
                                   long ==> the longest

Pour l'adjectif long : exciting ==> the most exciting 

2/ a) Driskill Mountain is the highest summit in Louisiana.

b) New Orleans is the most exciting  city in Louisiana.

c) The Mississippi is a really long river, but it isn't the longest river in North America.

d) Destrehan Plantation, built in 1787, is the oldest documented plantation home in Louisiana
